Infosys Bags ₹14,000 Cr NHS Deal to Modernize Workforce System
Infosys Bags Major UK Government Contract
Infosys has announced a major achievement — a ₹14,000 crore (GBP 1.2 billion) contract with the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) to upgrade and modernize the workforce management system for England and Wales. Following the announcement, Infosys shares climbed 0.5 percent to ₹1,500.40 on Tuesday, recovering from early losses. The deal comes just days before the company is set to release its second-quarter financial results on Thursday.
A 15-Year Partnership to Modernize NHS Systems
The long-term, 15-year contract will see Infosys replace the current Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system with a more advanced and intelligent platform called the Future NHS Workforce Solution. This next-generation system will continue to handle payroll for 1.9 million NHS employees, covering payments worth over GBP 55 billion each year.
Building a Future-Ready Healthcare Workforce
This initiative aligns closely with the UK’s 10-Year Health Plan, which focuses on creating a resilient and efficient healthcare system. The upgraded platform aims to redefine how the NHS recruits, trains, and retains its workforce, ensuring that the organization is well-prepared for future challenges.
Technology at the Core of Transformation
The new system will be powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced data analytics, enabling smarter decision-making and efficient workforce planning. It will oversee every stage of the employee journey — from recruitment and onboarding to payroll processing, professional growth, and retirement. NHS employees will benefit from a simplified, self-service interface that makes managing their careers more seamless and transparent.
A Strategic Step for the NHS
Michael Brodie, Chief Executive of NHSBSA, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, stating that the project is not just about upgrading systems but creating a foundation for the future. “Delivering the Future NHS Workforce Solution is a vital part of our vision for the next decade. Partnering with Infosys allows us to develop a modern, data-driven solution that strengthens our ability to attract, retain, and support NHS staff effectively,” he said.
