Allahabad HC Orders SP MP to Pay ₹30,000 Monthly to Wife
The Allahabad High Court has instructed Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur, Mohibbullah Nadvi, to ensure monthly maintenance payments to his fourth wife, failing which he could face legal action.
Justice Subhash Chandra Sharma also referred the case to the High Court's mediation centre, encouraging both parties to find an amicable resolution to their matrimonial dispute. The court has provided a three-month window for a settlement. Nadvi has been ordered to deposit Rs 55,000, out of which Rs 30,000 per month will be paid to his wife as maintenance.
This order follows Nadvi's petition challenging an earlier ruling dated April 1, 2024, issued by the Additional Principal Judge of the Family Court in Agra. During the hearing, Nadvi's counsel emphasized the MP’s willingness to settle the matter amicably.
The court noted that the nature of the dispute allows for the possibility of resolution through mediation and encouraged efforts to explore that option. However, the High Court also cautioned that if Nadvi fails to deposit the required amount or pay the monthly maintenance, or if mediation does not succeed, the interim order will automatically lapse.
