AI’s self-learning capabilities can serve as an advisory tool in weapons development, offering design recommendations and optimising traditional systems like artillery. By analysing historical trajectory data and real-time sensor inputs, AI can create more accurate firing tables and improve projectile precision.


Upgrading Traditional Weapon Systems

Older and less automated weapons can benefit most from AI integration. By applying AI to optimise design methods and performance principles, even legacy systems can achieve significant performance improvements.

Digital Twin Technology and Simulation

AI can be used in research and development through digital twin technology, creating virtual replicas of equipment for testing. This approach allows for early fault detection, accurate simulation, and better prediction of potential mechanical failures.


Combat Performance Evaluation

China’s weapons R&D has evolved from manual drafting in the 1980s to computer-aided systems like those used for the J-10 fighter jet in the 1990s. AI is already applied in projects such as a pistol-sized coilgun and hypersonic wind tunnel testing to optimise design parameters and performance.
